Brian Eno MY LIFE IN LIGHT

10 October 2015 - 3 January 2016

Brian Eno is considered an icon of international contemporary culture. Over the last forty years the British artist not only fundamentally influenced the pop and rock music scene, but has also attracted attention as an experimental artist and multimedia innovator.

He has produced the work of numerous artists, such as David Byrne, Talking Heads, U2, David Bowie, Coldplay and Robert Fripp. In addition to this, he has developed successful music apps and the startup sound for Windows 95. His collaborations with other artists are marked by his use of electronic sound technology, as well as his idiosyncratic, experimental aesthetic. His work proves definitively that artistic innovation and popular art can be successfully combined.

Brian Eno’s video installations and audiovisual works, such as “77 Million Paintings” have been international sensations, and have made their way into the biggest festivals and the most important museums.

To mark the occasion of Brian Eno’s B3 BEN Life Achievement Award, the B3 Biennale of the Moving Image presented a retrospective with video works and sound installations by the British media artist and musician in the Museum of Applied Arts. On show were – for the first time in 30 years in Frankfurt – original works from the 1980s into the new millennium. These were complemented by objects, sound compositions and audiovisual productions specially fabricated by the artist for the Museum of Applied Arts.
