GestalterKids Workshops for children at the Museum Angewandte Kunst

GestalterKids @ Home

As part of our digital content, the GestalterKids programme invites children to discover another part of the Museum’s collection from the comfort of their own home and to become creative themselves.

In this first digital edition we take a look at the extraordinary seating designs displayed in our permanent exhibition Elementary Parts. In addition to interesting stories about the various design objects, a creative task for you to do at home awaits you at the end of the clip. We invite you to invent your very own extraordinary chair!

Whilst inventing your chair, you can ask yourself:

What should my chair look like?

How many legs will it have?

Is it intended for one or more people to sit on, for indoors or outdoors?

Or was the object your chair is made out of actually intended for a completely different purpose?

You can use all kinds of material that you can find at home or in nature:

  • Sticks
  • Foil or paper
  • Tangerine nets
  • Cord or wire
  • Clay
  • Toothpicks
  • Bottle caps or corks
  • Sponges

Be creative and share your ideas with us. Take a photo of your chair and send it to us: Email create.angewandte-kunst@stadt-frankfurt.de, Facebook Museum Angewandte Kunst, or Instagram @museumangewandtekunst with the #GestalterKids@home.

With a little luck, your invention will get its very special appearance on our website and on our Instagram channel.

Have fun!
