It was part of a cooperative project being carried out by three Frankfurt museums (Museum Angewandte Kunst, Deutsches Architekturmuseum, Historisches Museum Frankfurt), the Forum Neues Frankfurt and the city of Frankfurt am Main. The joint initiative represented the Main metropolis’s contribution to the hundredth anniversary of the Bauhaus.

In 2016/17, in a joint research project, the entire the collection of Asian objects by the entrepreneur Werner Reimers was the subject of thorough scholarly examination. To coincide with the publication of the complete collection catalogue, the Museum Angewandte Kunst was showing a selection of some sixty works from the Reimer holdings.

The international triennial RAY Fotografieprojekte Frankfurt/RheinMain presented works under the heading “Extreme” by outstanding exponents of contemporary photography at more than ten venues in Frankfurt and the surrounding region.

The Museum Angewandte Kunst was showing some 300 works of ceramic in different techniques as well as a large number of Lore Kramer’s drawings. Glaze samples and other material from her workshop provided further insight into her working methods.

Picnic Time was the first major exhibition ever devoted to the phenomenon of the picnic. The show was retracing the fascination of dining out of doors through a wide range of different periods and cultures.
