Depot Show: Eating and Drinking – About Soup

19 November 2013 - 1 June 2014

Since it reopened in the spring of 2013, the Museum Angewandte Kunst has been treading new paths in how it works with and presents its own holdings. In November 2013, yet another original new display form was introduced: the Depot Show.

In keeping with the principle of the open depot, the Depot Show provides insights into the museum’s collections in all their abundance and variety, while also showing pieces that have never before been placed on view. On the other hand, it differs from the pure open depot format in that thematic selections are made and object constellations are purposively planned and presented.

From now on, the Depot Show will thus permit ever-new perspectives on the museum’s collections, each based on a different set of questions. The series has been launched with a presentation devoted to the thematic complex of “eating and drinking”. Under the heading “Soup”, it takes a closer look at the different means of serving one of mankind’s first dishes.
